What’s Precision CNC Machining

Also known as machining is a process that uses a rotary cutter to shape a material in a way that benefits the end user. There are a variety of machining operations available, some of which provide larger parts while others provide smaller parts for mass production. It is one of the most common of all the different processes used in industry, and because of the variety of parts that can be produced, it is necessary for almost any other industry.

Although many different types of equipment can be used for processing, more than one type of equipment at each site is called precision CNC machining. CNC stands for computer numerical control, which uses a computer to control a running milling machine. In its more basic application, it can remove material from the blank along a single axis. This is usually used for sculpting applications or for die. When used with other tools, you can increase the accuracy of your milling equipment while maintaining the same working speed.

Which parts of precision machining can be processed by CNC machining?

CNC machining is a kind of machining equipment that combines multiple processes in one process. CNC machining can also be upgraded to multi-axis CNC machining, which expands the machining range and completes the machining of multiple faces on the workpiece. Let's take a look at the types of parts and molds that CNC can process with precision technology.

1.Applicable processing range of CNC machining

CNC machining can be used in all major industries, especially the core industries that some countries value. CNC machining mainly deals with box-shaped workpieces, complex surface-shaped workpieces, special-shaped workpieces, disc-shaped workpieces, sleeve-shaped workpieces, plate-shaped workpieces and other complex-shaped workpieces, which can be processed by CNC machining.

2. Handle discs, sleeves and plate-like workpieces

There are many such workpieces, including key grooves and radial holes, flat holes, curved or shaft-shaped workpieces, such as flange bushings, shaft parts with key grooves or square heads. Perforated plate-shaped parts, such as various motor covers.

3. Machining complex surface workpieces
Generally, the processing of complex curved workpieces is performed by four-axis linkage. For example, five-axis CNC machining can process a variety of complex curved workpieces. Simple curved workpieces can also be machined with a three-axis CNC, but a ball-end milling cutter must be used. The three-dimensional coordinate processing is completed, the processing efficiency is high, but the efficiency is relatively low. Three-axis CNC machining can be used to process complex curved workpieces, because three-axis CNC machining can only process simple curved workpieces, not complex curved workpieces. For complex curved parts, such as impellers, blades and marine propellers, five shafts are required. Linked CNC machining can complete the processing.

4. Machining box-type workpieces
CNC machining of CNC box-type workpieces usually requires high-precision hole systems and planes for machining. When box-shaped workpieces are CNC machined, 60% to 95% of the machining operations can be completed with one clamping.

5. Machining special-shaped workpieces
What is a special-shaped workpiece? A special-shaped part is a part composed of points and lines. Its shape is strange and irregular. The machining of such workpieces requires the use of five-axis CNC machining, and the machining of shaped parts is more complex in shape. The higher the accuracy requirements, the more obvious the advantages of CNC machining.
